We assess what Invisalign can realistically achieve before recommending it, and we are equally honest when a different approach would serve you better.

Frequently asked questions
How long does Invisalign take?
Simple cases may finish in around six months; complex cases can take 18–24 months or longer.
Does Invisalign hurt?
Mild pressure for a few days when changing aligners is normal, not usually described as painful.
Can I drink coffee with aligners in?
Only plain water with aligners in. Hot or coloured drinks can stain trays and increase decay risk.
What if I lose an aligner?
Contact us promptly, we advise whether to move to the next set or replace the current one.
Will I need retainers?
Yes - retainers are essential. Aligners move teeth, but they will drift back without retention. After Invisalign we fit retainers, usually clear removable ones and sometimes a fixed wire behind the front teeth, then explain exactly how to wear them. Wearing them as advised is what keeps your result stable long term.
Am I too old for braces?
Many adults straighten their teeth successfully, age is rarely a barrier if gums and teeth are healthy.

What are Invisalign aligners, and what happens at the 3D scan?
Invisalign aligners are clear, removable trays custom-made to move your teeth in small, planned steps. At your consultation we take a digital 3D scan of your teeth - no messy impressions - which is used to design your sequence of aligners and show you a preview of the planned movement. You change to a new set every one to two weeks as directed, with in-clinic reviews to check progress.
